Frequently asked questions
Short answers to what we are asked most often.
Is this legal advice?
No. Catius Documents prepares a document from your details. We do not assess your case from a legal point of view. To assess your chances, consult a lawyer.
How much does the ellentmondás cost?
2 990 Ft including VAT, one-off fee, no subscription.
Can I file an ellentmondás for free?
Yes. You can write the ellentmondás (objection) yourself; there is no fee. Catius Documents is a paid, more convenient route, not a requirement.
When does my deadline start?
From service, not from the printed date; if marked "nem kereste" (not collected), from the fifth working day after the second attempt. In summer and at Christmas the deadline stops. Details on the Deadline page.
Why do I need two witnesses?
A typed document is a private document with full evidential force only with the signatures of two witnesses. The witness's name and address are also required. A handwritten, signed ellentmondás needs no witnesses.
Where do I send it?
To the közjegyző (notary) who issued the fizetési meghagyás (payment order), by registered mail. Not to the chamber of notaries and not to the court.
Can I ask for instalments instead?
You can, but that is not an ellentmondás: the deadline runs out, the order becomes final, and the application is subject to a fee. If you want instalments, ask for them separately, alongside the ellentmondás.
What happens if I do nothing?
The order becomes final and the jogosult (claimant) can request enforcement, for example against your wages or bank account.
Can I withdraw from the order?
As a consumer you generally have the right of withdrawal. Details on the Right of withdrawal page.
